Privacy Policy

1. Who this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains how SproutKids ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses and protects information when a parent or guardian creates an account, adds a child profile, and uses the SproutKids website or mobile app (together, the "Service"). A SproutKids account always belongs to the parent — children never create their own account, sign up independently, or provide information directly to us without a parent having first set up the family account.
2. Information we collect
From the parent account: name, email address, phone number, and a securely hashed password. If a paid plan is purchased, we record the plan, status and payment reference needed to manage the subscription — we do not store full card or bank details ourselves.
From a child profile (set up by the parent): a first name or nickname, age or date of birth (used only to place the child in the right Toddler/Explorer/Genius learning band), an avatar and theme chosen from our built-in options, and in-app progress — coins, XP, streaks, badges, quiz results and content watched or read. Children cannot enter free-text anywhere in the app other than an optional feedback comment, which a parent can review.
Automatically, from any visitor: standard technical data (IP address, browser type, pages viewed) collected via Google Analytics on our public website, used only in aggregate to understand which pages are useful — never to build an advertising profile of a child.
3. What we never do
- We do not run ads in the app, and we do not share a child's information with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not allow children to chat with strangers or other users — there is no open messaging feature.
- We do not sell personal information, a child's or a parent's, to any third party.
- We do not require a child's own email or phone number to use the Service.
4. How we use information
To operate the Service a child actually uses — saving progress, adapting quiz difficulty, awarding coins and badges, enforcing the screen-time limits and PIN lock a parent sets, and letting a parent see their child's activity in the Parent Portal. We also use a parent's contact details to send account and billing notices, respond to support requests sent via our Contact page, and — only with the parent's consent implied by using a referral link — track referral rewards between accounts.
5. Where information is stored
Account and progress data is stored in a secured database, and media (images, videos, story illustrations) is served through reputable cloud infrastructure providers (including Amazon Web Services). Access to the underlying data is restricted to the engineers who operate the Service.
6. Parental rights and controls
As the account holder, a parent can at any time, from the Parent Portal or by writing to us:
- View everything stored about their child's activity and progress.
- Edit or correct a child's profile information.
- Lock a child's account, or deactivate it entirely.
- Request a full export or permanent deletion of their family's data by emailing us (details below) — we will action deletion requests within 30 days.
7. Data retention
We keep account and progress data for as long as the account is active, so a child's streaks, coins and badges aren't lost between sessions. If an account is deleted or a deletion request is received, we remove personal information from active systems within 30 days, retaining only what's strictly required for legal, tax or fraud-prevention purposes.
8. Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify parents by email.
9. Contact us
Questions about this policy, or a request to access/delete your family's data, can be sent to [email protected] or via our Contact page.
